Christmas Time and Dieting- Blogmas Day 20

Hello!

Another day closer to Christmas! Are you all ready for celebrations, drink and lots and lots of food? Keeping to a diet has been incredibly difficult for me this Autumn/ Winter let alone the weeks up to Christmas. We stock up our cupboards with tasty treats and promise ourselves that they are for Christmas and that we won't touch them till then. It never happens, does it?

My weight yo-yos a lot which is probably down to lack of planning and keeping to a routine when it comes to exercising. I do think however if I had not stuck to some of the things which keep me healthy I think it would be another matter. This post would be about having no motivation to keep myself healthy and not being able to stick to a relatively good diet.

Here are some of my Tips for Keeping relatively healthy over the Christmas Period, because let's face it we aren't all going to keep to a strict routine when everyone is enjoying the festivities and stuffing themselves with delicious treats.

  • Don't skip Breakfast But make sure it is something healthy, full of Fibre which releases energy, to keep you going up till lunch.
  • Exercise when you can I say when you can very loosely, Sometimes I don't have time to fit a whole fitness regime into my day, but I give myself little exercises to do. For example bending down around the home when doing housework, make them an exercise. You might look stupid doing lunges whilst dusting your Living room but it does help!
  • Eat plenty of Fruit & Veg Sounds Simple but it is, I try and get my 5 a Day by having a smoothie a day and a couple pieces of fruit to give me bursts of Energy. Although Don't have too many smoothies a day, eat fresh cut fruit as it is just as good for you but gets your stomach muscles working when breaking down your food. I also prefer to have a salad with couscous instead of Sandwhich, much better for you.
  • Create portions for yourself If you crack and hit the treat cupboard like me, don't take the whole share size pack of chocolate biscuits, crisps or sweeties back to the sofa with you, Get yourself a small bowl and give yourself an ample handful of your favourite snacks and limit yourself. I often take a share size bag of chips/crisps to the sofa with me when watching a film. You loose track of how many you have eaten and before you know it, they are all gone.

How do you keep healthy over Christmas? If at all?
