D.I.Y Addict

I would say I am a creative person, I like to make things, recycle what I cannot justify throwing away and making them into something better or new. What pleases me the most is the ability to look at what I have made and being proud of myself, It might look shitty to someone else but I'm proud of it because I have put time and effort into making something unique, something I know someone else will not have. Of course somethings are inspired by others, it may not be an 100% original but making something with your own two hands is some what satisfying.

I think my biggest creative influence has to be my mum, since I was a child she was always making something for us kids. I remember by brother wanting a millennium falcon model, they were a bit on the pricey side and It wasn't his Birthday yet, so my mum made one.It may not have been just like the one that my little brother had seen but she had a good try making one. Whether it was decorative Birthday Cakes, clothes or fancy dress costumes she would make it so I guess her creativity has rubbed off on me over the years.
When I Received my first sewing machine I felt so grown up, it was a red toy one which you could actually sew with but it was very basic. I loved it to death. I was not particularly any good but I did my darn hardest to try, since then I have loved sewing but never really got in the full swing of learning how to sew and the different techniques, only until the past few years. Most of the time I would have taken some cotton thread, a needle and an old pair of jeans and made something with it like a coin purse. Now that I have my lovely sewing machine it has allowed me to continue that passion without having to ask mum to borrow hers and her being horrified that I would break it (I am sure that was the case when I was a kid), I have become well and truly addicted to sewing.

Below I have put a collage of photographs that I have taken during the creative process and the final product. I must admit I do love patterns especially floral as you may be able to tell.
The problem that I am facing is lack of storage space. I would like to have a place to store all my fabrics organised into fabric types and colours too. Currently my fabrics are folded up in the draw of my desk... shamefully all over the place.
I have recently purchased some books on Amazon, Cath Kidston Sewing books of course. There will be a section in my blog just for sewing or any D.I.Ys that I do, So you are more than likely going to see me recreating some of the designs in the books and reviewing them.
 Until next time xox
