So as many of you know Instagram has introduced Instagram Stories, which in essence is its own version of Snapchat rolled in with the Instagram App. This is great if you would like to watch fresh content from those you follow without the crispness of their Insta Theme, with well placed and precise settings. However, one thing I have come to find, if you follow a reasonable handful of profiles on Instagram, you can find yourself overrun with InstaStories. For myself, I like to carefully pick Instagram users Snapchat accounts, on the basis of the type of content they put up. I guess this could be said for Insta-stories, however, I find that you become overrun with everyone who has created a story in that 24 hour period, in a very busy long scroll system. At least with Snapchat you can find snaps in a scrolling list, which in my case isn't the 700 region, like those who I follow on Instagram. I'm sure that not all of the accounts I follow on Instagram will make use of Insta-Stories, some may not wish to move away from their pristine, well-placed objects and selfies. Instagram is a mobile platform which has become a highly used not just by individuals, but companies and content creators, so I'm not surprised that this development from Instagram has a mixed bag of opinions on its functionality or success. Will Snapchat phase out? or will it keep going with our love of Filters and Faceswapping? I haven't decided where my alliances lie, personally, I like the separation of different content through Social Media Platforms, So I will more than likely keep using snapchat. Maybe use both in conjuntion for those who use Instagram but not Snapchat. We shall see.
What do you think of Instagrams new feature? Do you think that Instagram Stories will over take Snapchat because of its similarities? Comment below, tweet or leave a message on Instagram.
